A 'stand by' az elektronikus nyelven a készenléti állapot. A 'stand by me' az pedig annyit tesz: állj mellettem, állj mellém. Azt vettem észre, ez nagyon fontos számukra. Az amerikaiak távozása óta volt három kedves tanítványom, akiket angolból segítettem felkészülni pótvizsgára. Ebben pedig az odaállás a lényeg. A tanulás terén több a kudarcuk, mint a győzelmük, én szándékosan ilyen példamondatokat vettem elő: 'Don't give up!' és 'Victory is mine!' magyarul 'ne add fel' és 'enyém a győzelem'. A vizsgán átmentek mind, és ez csak hab a tortán. Leginkább ezeknek a megjegyzéseiknek örültem: 'Veled jó tanulni' vagy ez: 'Eddig nem érdekelt, hogy megbukok, de most igen'. Szorgalmasan másoltak és ők is megtették a maguk részét. Küzdeniük kell azzal, amit az egyik családtag szegezett nekem: 'Ezeket nem érdemes tanítani, buták.' Erre én: 'De igenis, érdemes.' Aztán ott a sok frusztráció, hogy már túlkorosak és hogy vannak tanárok, akik különbséget tesznek. A legnagyobb dolog ebben a stand by me - ha van valaki, aki hisz bennük, aki értékesnek tartja őket, teljesítménytől függetlenül, aki segít, aki melléjük áll, hát ketten is vagyunk: Isten és én. :)
'Stand by' means that your device is ready for use. 'Stand by me' is from that well-known song, and I think that is an important sentence here. This means lot to them, having someone at their side. Since the americans left I was occupied with three young fellows (who are not attending church!!) to help with english. They failed at the end of the schoolyear, and I helped them prepare for exam. The main point in that is 'stand by me'. At school they have more failures than victories, so as I taught them my sentences were like: 'Don't give up' and 'Victory is mine'. They passed the exam, and that is a sign from God to me. So thankful about that. They said to me: "It is good to learn with you together." They did actually a good job. Despite of negative statements coming from a family member who said to me directly: "It is not worth to come and teach them, they are stupid". I replied: "No, they aren't!" - I had to be strong in my positive convictions. There are a lots of barrieres that they have to jump, so the best is: to have someone standing by them, who believes in them, shows that they are precious, and who loves them, and we are already two: God and I. :)
